eliud kipchoge marathon world record

Watched this last night from 11:45 PM to 1:45 AM. Although it won't be recognized as an official world record (because of pacers used and hydration techniques), it was awe-inspiring to see what the human body is capable of doing when the drive to simply win is removed from the picture, and time becomes the only real factor. The clock is the scariest and toughest of all competitors, and Eliud Kipchoge just gave time a real run for its money.
To run 2:00:25 for a marathon (a whole 2 minutes and 30 seconds faster than the current Marathon world record) is absolutely mind-blowing to me. It's Bannister's sub-4 minute mile. Although the sub-2 hour goal set by Nike was not achieved, an entire new world has been reached. To have witnessed this man average just about 4:35 mile pace for 26.2 freakin miles leaves me at a loss for words.
For some perspective, 4:35 was my personal best for 1 mile in 2009. ONE mile. I was sprinting down the last 100 meters on a track to run 4 minutes and 35 seconds. Kipchoge just ran 26 4:35 miles in a row. without stopping.
Just incredible.
