The study says that drinking alcohol is better than exercising to live a longer life

When you hear the term alcohol, you automatically associate it with negative aspects. I can not fault this because alcohol has been shown to have many adverse effects on the health of the human body. The annual conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science is where this research was presented. The individual behind these discoveries is neurologist Claudia Kawas, who says that drinking two glasses of beer or wine a day can reduce the risk of premature death. In fact, he adds that he has even better statistics than those that are exercised daily.

To determine this conclusion, Kawas and his colleagues took data from a long-term study conducted at the UC Irvine Institute for memory disorders and neurological disorders and analyzed it. The study was called the 90+ study, which has followed elderly people who have lived to be historical landmarks since 2003. The reason this study exists has been to see what lifestyle practices have given people the better longevity.

After his team analyzed the study data, they concluded that people who consumed two glasses of wine or beer a day reduced their risk of premature death with an astounding 18%. To compare this statement, people who exercised between 15 and 45 minutes a day cut the exact same risk, but only 11%.

This new research found suggests that consuming alcohol could be the secret to living a longer life. But this study is not the first to link alcohol to a longer life though. A 2015 study published in the journal BMJ Open found that those who suffered from mild Alzheimer's and who were moderately drinking were less likely to die. In addition, a 2017 study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, found that moderate drinkers reduced the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease compared to those who did not drink.

For the 2017 study, over 333,000 people were interviewed about their alcohol consumption and the type of lifestyle they lived in. They have been monitored for an average of eight years. Those who were light and moderate drinkers reduced the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 25-30%.

Although research suggests that drinking moderately can contribute to a longer life, we still have to remember that consuming large quantities of alcohol has consequences. If you are trying to lose weight, alcohol contains empty calories that will contribute to weight gain.
